This is a story of a legend turning a new face. The legend is no other than the Toyota Supra.
The Supra (a80) gained immense popularity through its reliability, its power, and through pop culture. It was more than well-regarded and gained many awards. Toyota as a company, made its mark and showed the world its potential. However, once Toyota created this legend, they needed to create a next generation of Supra, i.e., the A90 Supra.

Toyota needed a way to add to the existing legend but also keep the legend intact. All their other competitors, Nissan, Honda, etc., were transforming their legends into supercars. So, Toyota had many approaches to take this legend.
The approach that Toyota took was to give the enhanced feeling and look of the new legendary Toyota. However, to do so, they added a turbocharged B48 2.0-litre inline-four or a turbocharged B58 3.0-litre inline-six.
This broke the legendary legacy as the part was made from a third party. Toyota also converted the car to an automatic transmission, which has been a recurrent theme of car manufacturers.
In addition, many enthusiasts who are fanboys of Supras were shocked that it didn’t have the same engine and extra power in the car. This has led to many mixed feelings towards the new Supra and the future Supras down the line.
